Everything I Knew About Forgiveness Was Wrong
For 30 years before my spiritual awakening, my mind made me suffer with the illusion of difficult situations and people. I went through tremendous pain and suffering before I let go of my mind's identification with painful events or people. Later, I learned how to transform this suffering into inner forgiveness and realized peace.
But everything I thought I knew about forgiveness was wrong. I’ll share with you what true forgiveness is!
In this article, you will learn one habit for transforming your day-to-day suffering into inner peace. You will know the truth about transforming difficult times into miracles. Once you understand this truth, you will be completely free from mental suffering.
Every person perceived as evil or a past situation that causes pain is a blessing
Every person perceived as evil or every situation that causes pain holds the potential for the greater good. They are all "blessings in disguise." This powerful blessing reveals itself, inside you and outside in the world, when you surrender to being within and forgive and bless the people and situation that caused you harm.
If someone steals from your home or harms someone physically, he will be punished by the right authorities. But after that event, you don't add another layer of mental suffering and continuously identify with that event. That person will get the punishment of his Karma in this world anyway.
The Powerful Habit of Transforming Difficult Times
This powerful habit consists of forgiving and blessing difficult people and situations and, most importantly, thanking God for these difficult times and tragedies in your life. So Forgive, Bless, and Thank. But before that, let's understand what real forgiveness is.
Two Types of Forgiveness. And what is real forgiveness..
People forgive in two ways, as discussed in the book *The Course in Miracles.*
Ego's forgiveness
In the past, this is how I often forgave others. My ego would say things like, “I forgive you for how you treated me. I forgive you for your mistakes or wrongdoings.” This made me feel like a wise judge, placing myself on a higher level than the person I was forgiving.
I acted as if I were a wise sage, understanding the distinction between what is right and wrong. My ego would tell me I had been wronged, but at the same time, I felt generous and merciful for being able to forgive. Time and again, my ego tricked me into seeing things this way.
This is how my ego felt superior when I forgave others and pointed out their flaws. So, it was my ego’s version of forgiveness.
However, I later learned there is another kind of forgiveness, and that’s...
Love's Forgiveness
Love’s forgiveness arises from your inner being. Here, you understand that you are not mind and body but awareness behind them. Therefore, whatever you believe others did to harm you never truly occurred. Yes. It happened to mind and body. But it never touched the eternal essence that you are. Because You are deathless, eternal awareness, and not mind-body.
By remembering that you are Being and not mind-body, you awaken and attain salvation. Then, fewer outer situations and people affect you as you act from Being. Forgiveness from Being is forgiveness for liberation from the thinking mind. Therefore, Love's Forgiveness is a gift to yourself.
On one level, “what you thought that other person did to you has not occurred” means that he didn't take away your peace and joy. Nothing anyone did to you can take away your peace of God. Only you can do it.

Dissolving the Negative Energy of the Past Events and Situations
If someone commits a heinous crime, they belong in prison. Your emotional and physical pain should not be buried or denied. However, we add a layer of suffering to that pain by continually keeping that memory alive, reliving it thousands of times instead of resting in our being.
That's why Jesus said: "Resist not evil."
When you blame past painful situations, its energy will cling to you for life. It's looking for a resolution and healing. It will draw back to you if you are not releasing and letting go of that energy by forgiving and blessing those challenging people and situations. Once you surrender within and act from your being energy instead of your mind energy, it will not return to you.
When will Suffering Leave You
The suffering will leave you once it has finished teaching you. It will not go away until it has taught you what you must learn. The situations and people that trigger you are the messengers of unhealed parts within you. In a way, these trials and tribulations make you realize your true nature, which is pure awareness that is limitless and expansive.
How to Transform Evil into Greater Good
You can Transform Evil Into The Greater Good by Love’s Forgiveness.
When you forgive and bless past painful situations and people, an intense stillness arises inside and around you. That is consciousness itself. You vibrate at the energy of peace. Anything or anybody entering into the peaceful energy will be affected by it. Sometimes, that happens immediately, and other times, it occurs later.
You will resolve quarrels, heal suffering, and dissolve unconsciousness without making any efforts- simply by emanating the powerful silent energy of intense awareness. Awareness is your true nature when you surrender inward.
