In a world often obsessed with accumulating wealth and chasing material success, we may overlook the richness that exists within the present moment.
One of the readers emailed me asking how to live our daily lives in spiritual surrender, resting our minds in inner Being!
I wrote the following poem to answer his question.
The Richest Man — The Song of Surrender
A man is rich whose heart is clear,
Unburdened by the grasp of fear.
His joy is simple, small, and near,
Not in distant thought, but always here.
He walks with wonder through the trees,
In golden light that dances free.
No striving mind, no rat race,
Just presence in this natural space.
He counts no gold nor wealth to claim,
But hears the whispers of the rain.
A quiet walk, a gentle light,
A book by the fire, pure delight.
The richest one is he who feels
The sacred truth that time reveals:
A child’s laugh, the rustling leaves,
The quiet heart, the inner peace.
Do not seek joy in things that fade,
For chasing more keeps bliss delayed.
Only now, this breath, this light,
Awakens the soul to true delight.
To live awake, with heart unbound,
Is life’s true wealth, where peace is found.
No need to grasp, no need to chase,
Just presence here, and boundless grace.
He needs no crown, no lofty throne;
Peace within makes him at home.
He greets the day with silent cheer,
And walks in presence, far and near.
No praise he seeks, no worldly claim,
He lives untouched by wealth or fame.
The stars reflect within his gaze,
Each moment shines a timeless phase.
He listens well and speaks with care,
And feels the sacred everywhere.
A sip of tea, a bird in flight,
Reveal the Now in eternal light.
He does not seek what’s bought or sold,
For true abundance can't be told.
The falling rain, the autumn’s call,
Reminds him life is rich in all.
He knows that life, like a river flows,
Yet from each breath, a blessing grows.
And though his hands may hold but few,
His heart is vast and ever true.
No need for glory, no grand display,
Just this bright Now, the only way.
This is the wealth no one can steal,
But only silent hearts can feel.

Our stupidity is we are not able to appreciate the joy’s of true life where peace is profound.
