In August 2008, my entire world collapsed.

Overnight, the person I believed myself to be disappeared due to spiritual awakening.

The career I had built no longer mattered. My ambitions faded. Relationships felt unfamiliar. Even the things I once enjoyed lost their meaning.

I kept swinging between conscious and unconscious states of mind. I wondered why, if awakening is real, I kept falling back into fear, anxiety, and unconsciousness.

Why Spiritual Awakening is Painful

Spiritual awakening is not always a joyful process. You might often feel confused, frustrated, angry, sad, grieving, or "out of place". Depression and anxiety are your constant companions.

It might feel like the end of your known world. Whatever life you have built on a competing, achieving, and acquiring mentality no longer resonates with you.

Life makes no sense to you. Spiritual awakening can be an intense experience of personal transformation. But despite how much suffering your dying mind conditioning may cause, you are not going insane. You are evolving!
